Getting Here and Around Tahiti

Here in French Polynesia, living is done as laid back as possible. When you arrive here for your visit, you will be greeted by a beautiful, smiling vahine who will place a lei over your head that is filled with wonderful smelling flowers that are native to the islands. The succulent smells of vanilla accompanied with other floral scents are enough to relax even the most uptight of visitors. While you are here, enjoy the sights, scents, and sounds of Tahiti and her islands by sampling some of the local cuisine, cocktails, music, dancing, and everyday Tahitian life. A massage with Tahiti's monoi oil on a quiet, sandy beach is also one more great way to soak up the culture and enjoy our beautiful lands. While here, feel free to explore and discover the marine life, beaches, mountains, towns, people, and foods that make us who we are.

Airport Information
The main island of Tahiti has an international airport called Faa'a International Airport and you can always find flights to different destinations from here. If you are not staying on the main island of Tahiti, as soon as you land at Faa'a, find a connecting flight to the island that you will be staying at. This way, you won't lose any time in trying to find a hotel and a flight later in the day. Making a connecting flight immediately will also help to cut down on your jet lag time as well.
While you are at Faa'a, make sure that you take a little time to hit the ATM or exchange some of your currency just in case you need it when you arrive at your final destination and you cannot immediately find an ATM or bank. You will find the ATM by the Air Tahiti counter in the terminal of Faa'a.
If you are staying on the main island of Tahiti, you can find car rentals, taxis, or other means of getting to your hotel here at the airport. You can also find small shops here at the airport where you can get an early jump on your souvenir shopping or find maps of the islands to start planning out your trip, if you haven't done so already.
If you are not staying on the main island of Tahiti, make sure that you get a copy of the flight schedules for trips from Tahiti to the island you are staying at and a copy of the flight schedule for your trip home. Having this information handy will help when you would like to take a day trip to Tahiti or another island.
