Le Truck

This is the public transportation on the islands and are usually smaller trucks that have been turned into buses. Although not quite as glamorous as they were in the past due to the newer regulations and the growing number of other vehicles on the roads, Le Truck is a great way to see the islands and meet some of the local people while on you way. You will pay your fare to the driver when you get off at your stop, and the fare is usually pretty cheap, 3 Euros for about 60 kilometers. While boarding a Le Truck, you can view the destinations on the side of each truck to ensure that they are going the same way you are.

Tips“Some hotels have their private Truck transportation to bring tourists to main places like Papeete.”

Tips“Don't forget to take a picture of this unique public transportation mounted by a wood compartment for passengers over a truck chassis that is typical to Tahiti”
