The Best Beaches to Visit In Tahiti

Point Venus

Point Venus was discovered by Captain James Cook when he observed the planet Venus in the night sky in 1769 here at Tahiti's northernmost point. This beautiful, sandy peninsula is coated with Casuarina (Ironwood) trees and is located a little over a mile from the main road and is east of Papeeta about 6 miles in Mahina. There is a beautiful white lighthouse here that was built in 1868, even though it says “1867” over the door, along with a handicraft shop, a snack bar, and a souvenir shop for visitors to enjoy. The point is open every day of the year, 24 hours a day, so you are always able to catch some of the breathtaking views no matter the time of year or the time of day.

PK 18

PK 18 is a famous and crowdy place where local people go on week end. Located at Punaauia at Kilometer 18 (PK18) from Papeete, this white sandy beach is one of the best place to swim and take a sunbath, a parking is available and cost 500FCP ($5,00) for a full day.

With all of the beautiful beaches here on the islands, it is very hard to rank which ones are the best. The only thing that makes Tahiti different from other island groups is that most of the beaches here are pretty much deserts, except on Tahiti and Moorea.

Although there is no 'best' or 'worst' list here, here is a list of some of the most popular beaches for you to visit while you are here in Tahiti:

But, the best beaches for you on your visit here in Tahiti, are the beaches that you discover yourself while exploring the wonders of the islands either by boat, tour, hike, or just while you're out for a walk.
